Waiting on Baby | Fort Worth Maternity Photographer

I met this adorable couple prior to this shoot at a local coffee shop, and we chatted and got to know each other and it was fun! But I didn't expect to show up at their home for mama's maternity session and feel like I was an old friend. These guys are the absolute sweetest and I truly felt like I had known them way longer than the two weeks I had. We picked out wardrobe, and talked baby stuff, and hung out in the nursery for while....and got some beautiful pictures of this stunning mom to be.

These guys are going to be amazing parents. You can feel the excitement and love in their home, and I know they are so ready to meet this little girl.

"Being a parent is learning about the strengths you didn't know you had, and dealing with fears you didn't know existed."

This was a happy session...a happy day....a nice warm sponge bath, freshly combed hair, and lots and lots of cuddles. You can see the love this mommy and daddy have for their son radiate from every inch of them. But I still struggle with what to say when sharing a beautiful baby's first session in the NICU. Because there is no way I could ever understand what this couple, and all NICU parents, have felt on any given day. Their precious son is thriving and growing, and they radiate courage and joy and faith. But I can't imagine it has been an easy journey. Fortunately these sweet parents seem to know that easy is not what God designed us for. I don't know that I live it out nearly as well.

Psalm 66:10 says "For you, God, tested us; you refined us like silver." And as I watch these precious parents, that is the visual that keeps surfacing. Two strong, faithful people who have been made even more so through the refining of trials. I think parenting does this to everyone to a certain degree...you truly are allowing your heart to live outside of your body. And that's scary. But I imagine it is amplified to the Nth degree when spending your first few months of your child's life in the hospital. If you couldn't tell, I am completely inspired by these guys, and so invested in baby Campbell, and cannot wait to see them again--at home!--very soon.

It is such a huge blessing, and one that I don't take for granted, to be welcomed into the homes of clients. And even more so, to be welcomed in more than once.

I first became a part of this family's story a couple months back as we did mom's maternity photos. And as I arrived back at their home to photograph their beautiful new baby girl, I was totally aware of how fortunate I am to get to be a part of these special moments. Mom and dad are so kind and welcoming, precious Baby Leighton was a perfect little angel, and big brother Liam kept me completely entertained during down time.

I'm sure you can tell, but this was a fun morning for me. :) Oh, and.....baby fever. Sweet Leighton sleeps on her mom just like my daughter used to sleep on me, and I simply could not get enough. I mean, is it possible for a baby to look any more perfectly and utterly content?! Jenn B 1Jenn B 2Jenn B 3Jenn B 4
