Bluebonnets | Fort Worth Family Photography

This little angel-face and her mama have been my "guinea pigs" for some time now. They have to be two of the most laid-back ladies I know...always up to let me experiment. See: this post. I only shoot outdoors a small percentage of the time, and I knew I wasn't going to be offering bluebonnet sessions this year. HowEVER, being a Texas girl, I am a little obsessed with these little blue and white buds.

So, planning for possible future sessions, and wanting to get some photos of my own family without having to use a remote, I mentioned the idea to Grace and we set a (play)date.

I already bragged a little on the two girls in this family, but dad is pretty great too. My husband always enjoys talking with him, and he is just as easy-going and friendly as his wife and daughter. It was a breeze shooting these, to say the least.

This last one might be my favorite:

And here is our little circus. Having another family there with us meant I got a picture with me IN IT! Kind of a rarity. grace peek 15

What do you think? Bluebonnet sessions worth offering next year?? Who can come make this child smile?

Hudson | Fort Worth Child Photography

Hudson is two! And every bit as adorable and rambunctious and personality-filled as you would expect. Laughed myself silly chasing him around, and mentally prepared myself for what life would be like with our daughter in a few months. :) This little guy's parents are friends of ours, and I am so glad we were able to carve out some time for these precious pictures while they were here for a few days!

As you can see, Hudson alternated between huge smiles/fits of laughter and strong-willed stares, and I loved every minute of it.

Grateful | Fort Worth Child Photographer

A  little bit about my business: I have a very, very small advertising/marketing budget. I rely almost solely on word of mouth and referrals to keep this thing going, and thankfully the DFW metroplex is full of mommies supporting other mommies trying to make a living as a small business owner (see TanglewoodMoms.com, and Shop Small Fort Worth---two hugely supportive sites that have been such a blessing to me recently).

So all this ties back together to this sweet family. This mama started the Shop Small Fort Worth group, and we ended up connecting and chatting over social media as her idea was born. Then, a few weeks later, I found myself with an unexpected cancellation one weekend, and it was like the planets aligned. Now, you all know I don't normally shoot families, unless it is a part of a maternity, newborn, or milestone session. It's just not where I feel my strengths lie. Unless there is a baby around, or on the horizon, I feel fairly out of my element. I think its my slightly introverted nature. But this mom, who has been a champion of small business owners over the past couple months, has not had photos taken of her family in years. So she jumped in and hired me last minute and we had a blast. She is a joy to talk to and be around, and her family is a hoot. Look at those boys.

As to the title of this post...never EVER would I have dreamed that I would meet so many ladies willing to go to bat for me; that other busy moms would take time out of their schedules to support small business owners. Glowing words from happy moms is quite honestly the absolute best advertising I could ask for....so yea, for all the support that our amazing little/big town has, I am grateful.
