Baby Elin Drew. Just cannot get enough of her.

It may have been dark and rainy on the morning of her shoot, but her family was pure sunshine. So much adoration and love for this new itty bitty person in their home.

As an aside, I am very easy-going about sibling pictures during newborn sessions. If big brother or sister is happy to hold baby, great; if they are wincing and pouting, thats fine too. It's real life and that's what I'm there to capture....they'll be best friends someday and those kind of pictures will provide lots of smiles and laughs.

But I'd be lying if I said it wasn't a bit of a dream to capture siblings that are utterly enthralled with their new baby. And these two big kids....truly enamored. Hopefully some of the images below show you at least a glimpse of it...the touching of fingers and toes and the 1000 kisses on sister's soft little head. It was just the sweetest.

Speaking of baby's head, this beautiful little girl had the most gorgeous hair...I don't know if you can tell, but her hair was like spun gold. Truly. It had bits and flecks of blonde woven throughout that almost made her hair shimmer. One more little detail to add to the perfection of this session. Ashley 5Ashley 3Ashley 2Ashley 1

There's something so special about sharing the entire journey-to-baby with a couple.

Maternity sessions allow me to re-live, those sweet, anticipatory weeks leading up to baby's arrival. Seeing the nursery perfectly prepared and waiting for a baby just does something to my heart. I remember that time of preparation so sweetly....hanging the little outfits and folding the stacks of burp cloths and organizing the thoughtful gifts that people so lovingly purchase for your expected little one.

First 48 sessions take me back to that incredible, other-wordly time in the hospital when it is just you and your family in this little bubble, meeting and getting to know that baby, finally. The excitement and exhaustion and emotion is at a peak, and its a whirlwind of a time that is so hard to remember when it is gone.

And capturing newborns at home, during their first few weeks of life, is just such a heart-filling thing. Watching new parents love on their baby, and seeing the kind of affection that is showered on these little humans....you wonder how there could ever be anything wrong in the world.

Baby Rhys is absolutely beautiful, and through photographing the months and days leading up to, and after, her arrival, I have made two sweet new friends. I am so happy for this couple, and I cannot wait to see their little girl grow.

Bluebonnets | Fort Worth Family Photography

This little angel-face and her mama have been my "guinea pigs" for some time now. They have to be two of the most laid-back ladies I know...always up to let me experiment. See: this post. I only shoot outdoors a small percentage of the time, and I knew I wasn't going to be offering bluebonnet sessions this year. HowEVER, being a Texas girl, I am a little obsessed with these little blue and white buds.

So, planning for possible future sessions, and wanting to get some photos of my own family without having to use a remote, I mentioned the idea to Grace and we set a (play)date.

I already bragged a little on the two girls in this family, but dad is pretty great too. My husband always enjoys talking with him, and he is just as easy-going and friendly as his wife and daughter. It was a breeze shooting these, to say the least.

This last one might be my favorite:

And here is our little circus. Having another family there with us meant I got a picture with me IN IT! Kind of a rarity. grace peek 15

What do you think? Bluebonnet sessions worth offering next year?? Who can come make this child smile?
